Ubiquity is considered to be the "easy to use" competitor of Mikrotik, when it comes to home and office.

I have no direct exprience with Ubiquity, but if it is considered to be a competitor for Mikrotik, it is probably good, because Mikrotik is awesome.

One I recommend is Orbi. I used to have a lot of wifi troubles in the past (I have a loooong house) - and the wife used to complain about dropouts and slow wifi (but I was OK in the office, which is where the main wifi was :)

I tried Orbi when it first came out (it was expensive), and all wifi issues gone. One SSID, no dropouts, high speed all over the house, and no more nagging wife. Winner :)

I should be on commission with them, I since convinced my neighbour, sister and Dad to use them (for similiar pains), and they all havent turned back.

I too have a Mikrotik (but not wifi) - I bought the HEX S (and Orbi hangs off it in bridge mode) and I'm pretty happy with it. Doesnt miss a beat.

It's been okay... the router has been stable, once configured, I have
had to reset the AP a couple times... I have another AP in the box and
want to get them both mounted in the next couple months, right now it's sitting in the upstairs loft by my desk on a shelf... there's a couple low-signal places in the house at the other end, but should be resolved
once ceiling mounted and the other AP mounted on the other side of the
house.

There are better options out there, Level 1 techs on youtube did some
reviews iirc a few months ago. Ubiquiti is on the "supported" list of hardware for my fiance's work phone (which she has had issues with) so
it's the one that wasn't crazy priced that I went with. My work laptop
is connected via hardwired z3 vpn device. No issues on the wired
connection and only had to reset the AP once or twice in the past 7
months or so since I switched over.

Aside: the AP management software is wacky, and I'll have to reset the
AP when I get ready to mount, planning on running the mgt software on an
rpi. I forgot my passphrase on the AP mgt software on my desktop, and
too lazy to reset and recover for now.

One thing to try when having dropouts etc, is to set the channel
bandwidth on the router/wifi to half the max... tends to get more stable connections that way. Maybe not the same max theoretical, but when most people in the house are just streaming at 3-10mbps it's not a big deal
that it's going to max at 200mbps instead of ~500 or so when the
connections are more stable.

In a few years when ax (wifi 6) becomes more common, a lot of those
issues will be significantly better than today.
