There's already a passport, and it works for more things. Screw that real ID shit. The passport is a little bit bigger, but big deal.. makes you feel lik you're back in Communist Russia or something.

I wish I'd gotten a passport card when I got my passport renewed. It would have come in handy. I have a real ID, still travel with a passport out of spite.

I'm saddened that most places I've traveled (Canada, the UK, France, Italy) don't stamp passports anymore. That was a cool memento of a trip and you could look at your passport to confirm trip dates.

I've heard that if you have a passport, you don't need a Real ID, and
you can use your passport instead.

    True.

Agree, so long as they are mostly uniform but also still handled on the state level.

Totally agree, thinking more about format - expiration dates and data
stored on the magstrip. Because, when you buy alcohol or antihistamines
at Target, they should be able to pull the information off of your
license just fine whether you're in California or Arkansas.

Aside: I bought a bottle of wine at Target last week. They didn't
bother checking my ID. Don't know if this was a policy change or if
they felt silly asking a 60 year old with lustrous silvery-gray hair
    for his ID.

Around the time of the Gulf War I was 19 and looked extremely young. I met my folks in Las Vegas between tours and went to casino's in my Navy Dress Blues. You got treated that way because navy boys work hard and play hard.
They spend a lot of money.

Same here. I always looks about 10 years younger that I actually was. Funny how when I was younger I hated it when people thought I was in my teens when I was in my 20s. Now I love it when they think I'm in my 50s, or even in my 40s, though I'm in my 60s.
