What is TAF

TAF is a PEX for Proboard 2.0x, which let your users view the contents of an
archive. It also enables the user to download some files of an archive by
selecting the files and rearchiving them to a new archive file after which it
calls the proboard download function. So users can download specific files
from an archive!
When viewing an ASCII file inside an archive, TAF uses the code from PB_READ.
This code enables the user to browse an ASCII file page by page and even
returns to previous pages. It even allows searching in ASCII files by a
keyword.
TAF supports most archivers by installing them into an .INI file. Up to 10
different archivers can be installed in this .INI. For now ZIP, ARJ and ARC
are tested, but I am sure most other archivers can be installed.

Installing TAF

TAF is very easy to install into your proboard system. Just make a menu entry
and put TAF as menu function 60 into it. The .INI file must reside in the PEX
directory besides the TAF.PEX. The .INI file is a little bit harder to
install, but if you edit the .INI file accompagnied with this archive, it
shouldn't be that hard. Just edit the paths to your archivers and it should
work.

TAF doesn't need any parameters. If it is started it searches through your
FILECFG.PRO for the asked filename.
TAF can be started with one parameter, which must be an archive with full path
and extension. In that case, TAF won't ask for a filename, but shows the
contents of the archive specified with the parameter.

Within the .INI file you can add upto 10 different archivers. Each archiver
should be given an unique number, which must be placed before the keywords :
ArcName, ArcExt, ArcExtractPrg, ArcExtractCmd, ArcAddPrg and ArcAddCmd. With
these commands you can specify the different archive programs (for adding and
extracting). If you use the same program for extracting and addingt to an
archive, this should be the same programname. Don't forget to specify the full
name of the program, that is the path, programname and extension.

Furthermore you can specify which extensions are ASCII readable. This keyword
is used when the user wants to view files. If the extension of the program to
be viewed is in the range of the value of the keyword ASCIIfiles, TAF runs
PB_READ. If not, TAF warns the user the file might not be readable. If the
user just selects this file anyway, PB_READ will be run.

The keyword ARCfiles, contains the extension of files which might be archive
files and are installed in TAF. If you have an archive in an other archive and
the user wants to view this archive, a new object in TAF will be created and
the contents of the second archive will be shown with all options of TAF.

The TAG_CHAR and color keyword are simple to understand I assume. No further
explanation is needed here.

How does it work

Very simple indeed. TAF searches for a file, which may contain wildcards in
all files.bbs where the user has access. If a file is found, TAF will seach in
the directory if the file realy exists.
When a file is selected, taf will get it's extension and the right archiver
parameters are loaded into memory. After that, TAF executes menufunction 7,
extracting all files from the archive into a specified directory.
Viewing is done with PB_READ, which is compiled into the code of TAF. PB_READ
is an ASCII reader, which can be run separately. If files are tagged and
downloaden, TAF will delete all non-tagged files and gather the remaining
files into a newly created archive with the name TAFDOWN.xxx.

Special thanks

Special thanks to Willem Weghorst for his ScanKey and TestFileName functions
used in TAF!

Shareware

The Archive Fixer is not freeware. I wrote a lot of software in the past and
on most programs I never heard anything. But I, as you, don't like to pay that
much money for each program. So hereby I ask a little shareware fee. This fee
will be the same ammount for each country. It depends upon money index of your
country.
The money fee is : 2.50 ! So if you live in the Netherlands, you should pay
2.50 guilders. If you live in the USA, it will be 2.50 dollar and if you
live in Belgium, you're realy lucky. I think for most countries this will
be a fair ammount of money. If not... just pay me 2.50 dollar.

You can transfer the money to

     ABN/AMRO
     Nr : 51.37.70.054

     or

     Postgiro
     Nr : 4829115

     To: Peter Bloemendaal
         Den Haag

If it is impossible for you to transfer the money to one of these accounts,
you can put the fee in an enveloppe and send it to:

     Peter Bloemendaal
     Pluvierstraat 471
     2583 GZ The Hague
     The Netherlands
