Instruction for Callers using Trumpet Winsocket
(tested with Version 3.0d and PBBS PPP autodetection)
Detlef Pleiss, Mar-28-97

When Trumpets own installation procedure is complete, launch TCPMAN.EXE.
From the "File" menu choose "Setup...". At "DNS server(s)" enter "10.0.2.3".
Switch "Driver" to "PPP". Leave the other settings untouched. Click on
"Dialler settings...". There choose the appropriate ComPort and baud rate.
Check "Hardware handshaking" and "VJ header compression". Switch "Online
Status Detection" to "DCD (RLSD)". Leave the other settings untouched. Click
"OK" on the Dialer settings and the Setup dialogs. Click "OK" on the upcoming
messagebox but do not yet restart TCPMAN.
From the "File" menu choose "PPP options...". On the upcoming dialog check
"Use Challenge Handshake Auth. Prot. (CHAP)". Enter the BBS account user name
and password (password in ALL CAPITALS!). Click "OK".
Then from the "Dialler" menu choose "Profile...". On the upcoming "Login
Profile" dialog, just enter the BBS phone number, leave Username and Password
empty.
Click "Modem Settings...", configure these appropriately and click "OK".
Then click "Server Settings..." and there delete all entries! All edit boxes
must be just empty. Leave "Scan for IP address" unchecked. Click "OK" on the
Server Settings and the Login Profile and you're ready to go.
Exit TCPMAN.EXE and restart it for all new settings to take effect, then
choose "Login" from the "Dialler" menu. Trumpet should now dial the BBS and
establish the PPP connection.
