       1.2 USING THIS DOCUMENT

This document is intended to be a reference guide for FD2GIGO
It makes the assumption that the reader understands the basics of
         the FrontDoor Mailer (FD).

       1.3 WHAT THIS PROGRAM DOES

The FrontDoor Nodelist to Gigo utility (FD2GIGO) is designed to
aid FrontDoor sysops using the GiGo mail gateway software.

For many sysops, the ackward addressing used to email points on
a gateway system is a nuisance. The gateway software generates
subdomain names for mail from points which are hard for others
to remember. More seriously, some ISPs require all subdomains to
be pre-registered, making this form of addressing impossible.

This program maps points of a system to the subdomain of the system
itself, by generating a suitable user file for inclusion in GiGo's
         configuration.

       1.4 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

FD2GIGO does not require any special components to be
         installed on your system.

       1.5 INSTALLATION

Copy the files contained in the distribution archive into any
         directory on your system.

FD2GIGO must be able to find the FrontDoor configuration file
SETUP.FD, either in the directory pointed to by the FD environment
variable or in the current directory (that is, the same directory
         as FD2GIGO.EXE).

       2. USAGE

Before use FD2GIGO requires that a configuration file be created.
This is simply a plan ASCII text file, and a sample file is
         included in the arhive.

       2.1 CONFIGURATION FILE

In the time honoured fashion, blank lines and lines started with
a semi-colon ';' are treated as comments and ignored by FD2GIGO.
The file is non case sensitive. That is, "OutBound", "OUTBOUND" and
"outbound" are all considered to be the same.

Two keywords are used in the configuration file.

         Outbound <Filename>

This specifies the name of the ASCII text file generated by FD2GIGO.
It is NOT recommended that this be USERS.CFG. See notes below for
more detail. The filename POINTS.CFG in the GiGo directory is
         suggested.

The Outbound file should be specified before any System keywords.

         Systsm <Node address> <subdomain>

This specifies the systsms that should be processed. There is no
limit to the number of system you may include here.

The node address should be the full FTN (FidoNet Technology Network)
address of the system whose points will be detailed.

The subdomain should include everything that should go after the
'@' character in the corresponding email addresses.

         EXAMPLE

           System 2:443/9 fake.piglets.com

Would cause FD2GIGO to link all the points of 2:443/9 to
InterNet addresses of the form FirstName.LastName@fake.piglets.com.

The order in which systems are specified could be important. A point
off two systems in the list will obtain the address for the first
system listed. (Inbound mail to both addresses will work, but the
outbound mail will come from that address).

       2.3 INTEGRATING WITH GIGO

You should pick the outbound created filename mentioned above to
be something other than the already existing *.CFG files that GiGo
         has.

This is because the file created by FD2GIGO will be overwritten on
each execution, so other user data should be stored separately.

Simply INCLUDE the new file in USERS.CFG by adding an

         INCLUDE POINTS.CFG

         line above the final

         SITE bounce *;*/*.*

         line.

       2.4 INTEGRATING WITH FRONTDOOR

FD2GIGO works by exporting information straight out of the FrontDoor
Nodelist Database, so all important points should already have been
compiled into the database using FDNC.

It is suggested that FD2GIGO should be run after each recompilation
of the Nodelist Index set. In this way new points are inserted
automatically and removed points will be removed from the control
         file.

       3. COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS

         FD2GIGO supports the following parameter:

         /CONFIG:<Config Filename>

This can be used to override the name and location of the
configuration file. By default the program will use FD2GIGO.CFG
in the same directory as the FD2GIGO executable.

       4. ERRORLEVELS

FD2GIGO uses the following errorlevels when it exits.

         0 No errors.
         1 Error handling outbound file.
         2 Parameter error.
         3 Error handling configuration file.
         10 Error handling SETUP.FD
11 Error opening FrontDoor Nodelist DataBase
