 Summary

This is an online database for Bulletin Board Systems that support
the DORINFOx.DEF drop file format. Any door converter like DoorMaster or
QuickDoor will generally work well for non-DORINFOx.DEF users.	The file
format is compatible with Maximus v2.00, Omega, Quick BBS, RBBS 16.x/17.x,
Remote Access, SupperBBS, TAG and others.

This version is ANSI only. ASCII is not supported in this version.

This database has the *complete* Veterans Memorial Wall as in Washington
D.C. The database is very easy to use and friendly. It has 58,169
MIAs/POWs/KIAs in it. MIAs are the people whose body was not recovered.
There is only one listed POW, and the rest are KIAs (Killed In Action).

Version 1.00 was a little misleading and thanks to Kenneth Knowlton, the error
was corrected in the above paragraph.

The on-line database supports the following commands:
    B-Backward
    F-Forward
    H-HELP
    L-Locate from top
    N-Locate Next
    Q-Quit
    V-View Biography

VETDOOR is also multi-user/multinode accessable.

 Installation

This is a very EASY door to install. it works on any BBS that supports
DORINFOx.DEF.

VetDoor uses a fossil driver. X00 or BNU will work. This must be installed
first.	Refer to your fossil driver's manual for more information.

Make a directory called VETDOOR and copy the files from this archive to it.

You can add biographies to the database. This takes 41megs of your hard drive
and the files must be FREQed seperately. The compressed total is 14megs.

If you have the bio-files, then UNDER YOUR VETDOOR DIRECTORY, make 26
subdirectories called:

    BIO-A through BIO-Z

In each directory, copy the appropriate bio-?.exe file to that directory
and run the file. It will unpack each set into the directory.

MAKE SURE BOTH THE BIO-?.EXE and the BIO-? SUBDIRECTORY MATCH.

Below is the list of bio-files and size. They can be freqed from 1:285/82.

Magic Name Size Magic Name Size	Magic Name Size Magic Name	Size
---------- ---- ---------- ----	---------- ---- ----------	----
bio-a 210K bio-b 472K	bio-c 477K bio-d	248K
bio-e 97K bio-f 174K	bio-g 288K bio-h	449K
bio-i 16K bio-j 139K	bio-k 200K bio-l	278K
bio-m 552K bio-n 85K	bio-o 93K bio-p	314K
bio-q 5K bio-r 255K	bio-s 537K bio-t	160K
bio-u 11K bio-v 50K	bio-w 320K bio-x 24K
bio-y 23K bio-z 72K
   5,669,317 bytes in 26 files

The following batch file illustrates how to setup VetDoor:

@echo off
rem the below is the directory where VETDOOR is located.
cd c:\vetdoor
rem
rem the parameter is the location and name of the DORINFOx.def file
rem
vetdoor c:\nstar\node-1\dorinfo1.def
exit
rem use whatever command you need to restart or exit to your BBS

Follow whatever setup your BBS requires.

Thats it, VETDOOR is ready for the users.

 Sponsorship

I have decided to use sponsorships instead of registration. I spent a great
deal of time deliberating on how I could limit the program for a shareware
version. Limiting the software defeats my entire purpose. Hence
sponsorship.

This software is FULLY functional in every way and is *NOT* limited. There is
a screen at the end that states that the software is not sponsored. Any
number of users can sponsor the software. Each sponsor will be added to
the end screen and a new copy will be sent to the sponsored system.

The amount of money is not set. The user contributes what they think the
software is worth. The sponsor may contribute as much or as little as
they wish.

 History

3.01	Correction made October 19th, 1996. More misspelled words....

3.01	Correction made October 16th, 1996. Correction in the name of
	JOHN MENDES, sorry JOHN.

3.00	Released October 10th, 1996. Added a biographies section to system.
This is about 41megs of data.

2.00	Released October 8th, 1996. Several errors were corrected and 5 megs
of information was added. Information provided by PAUL BYLIN,
	LZ Memories.

The locate function was greatly expanded. Unfortunately, it can
be a time consuming endeavor for long searches.

ASCII users are no longer supported. I found too many problems in
dealing with the format when most users support ANSI. If the
user has there BBS setting set to ASCII and they are truely ANSI,
they can continue with the door.

I switched to DORINFOx.DEF due to the format problems with DOOR.SYS
	and TAG BBS.

This version was written in C (10%), MACHINE LANGUAGE (90%)

1.00	Released August 8th, 1996. This version of the software was based on
information released by JOHN MENDES, DAV Chapter #76.

This version was written in PASCAL (80%), MACHINE LANGUAGE (20%).
